KKZ TERMS & RULES
THE KKZ LEADING ROLE AND COMPETITION VOTING TERMS
1. ATTENDANCE: There is no getting around it. A student that is always late, gone, has excuses for being absent is not dependable. Score rating based on your attendance will affect your opportunity of competition and leading roles.
2. PARTICIPATION: The more student participate in all events, classes, activities, including assisting and teaching are going to be more reliable, dependable, and have the most practice with techniques and skills. These students will make the most progress. Your participation in classes number of classes you attend, assist, or teach will affect your opportunity in competition and leading roles.
3. FOCUS: Even the best dancer can be the worse dancer for leading role and competition if their focus is not 100% during class, practice, and session. Having some fun and enjoying class members between sessions, before, and after as long as behavior does not disrupt or delay class is fine. But too often more than 90% of the kids in our program are lacking true focus that is required for leading roles and competition participation. Some of the things that I find unacceptable to prove to me that a student is serious about having leading roles are:
1. Constantly making jokes during practice, sessions, and working on routines.
2. Constantly mocking both teacher and team members.
3. Showing off and bragging of their own talent and skills.
4. Failing to realize that they are an influence not just to their class but the team as a whole and again failing to take the program, routines, and class session and practice SERIOUSLY at least 90% of the time.
5. Constantly complaining they are tired, hungry, thirsty, this or that. This will affect your score.
6. Constantly messing around, pushing, touching, kicking, playing, with both team members and the instructor.
4. ATTITUDE: There are two types of attitude that will affect your scoring. One is the negative attitude. Students that constantly whine, get angry, complain, pout, have I can’t attitude, bossy, controlling, constantly interfering, disruptive, and constantly talking during practice and class session. These students are the least likely to win in competition or earn leading roles. The second type is the Over Rated Ego thinking that they are better than, more worthy, deserving, expecting, demanding, and arrogant. These attitude will not help you win or get leading roles.
5. COMMITMENT: While participation is part of commitment, we do have to accept the fact that dancers that have more practice, years, and experience naturally are more prepared and ready for both competition and leading roles. Commitment is important NOT JUST on the dancer’s part but also the parent. Parents with attitudes of expecting or not willing to also commit can affect the student’s opportunity of participation in competition and leading roles.
6. PROGRESSION: We have some students in the program that have taken dance for several seasons to several years are not showing the progression they should be at based on their lessons and experience. These students most likely fail to to progress for the following reasons: Lack of faith & confidence, lack of practice, lack of energy, lack of effort to correct, keep corrected, and self discipline and correction. The only way to gain progress is to stay 100% focused, learn discipline, gain confidence and self esteem (believe in yourself), practice as much as daily, participate in additional lessons, and giving your 100% effort and energy.
SCORING SHEETS: Everyone will be given scoring sheets based on 1-5, one being the lowest and five being the highest of the six categories listed above.
